02/13/2009 HARDI Submits Initial Comments to DOE on First Commercial Walk-In Standards
The newly-formed Commercial Walk-In Rulemaking Task Force rushed to complete these preliminary comments on the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) initial Framework Document on the rulemaking to develop the country's first energy conservation standards for commercial walk-in freezers and coolers under 3000 sq.ft. Though the Framework Document was released in late December, the initial stakeholder meeting to review the document was held just last week, leaving only a week for interested parties to develop responses to nearly 40 questions in the 44 page document. In that time, 11 HARDI distributor companies volunteered to serve on the new Commercial Walk-In Task Force and developed a series of general principles and concerns that were submitted to the DOE yesterday as the introduction to HARDI's formal comments that will be completed within the next two weeks.
